How does COMPASS determine which obligations apply to me?

COMPASS applies a three-step logic. First it determines your role in the AI value chain based on how you describe your relationship to the system. Then it classifies your system against the EU AI Act risk categories. Finally it filters the full set of obligations down to exactly what applies to your role and risk tier combined. The same inputs always produce the same output.

Does COMPASS also advise on how to fulfill the obligations?

Yes. Beyond identifying your obligations, COMPASS generates concrete controls per obligation; specific actions your teams can execute. Each control includes implementation guidance, responsible role, and required documentation. This is the step from knowing what is required to knowing what to do.
